My Services
I am currently providing online, telehealth appointments only. During the pandemic, telehealth service increased dramatically and has been proven to be an effective treatment modality. Telehealth appointments allow for more flexibility for both the provider and the client, they allow a client to attend a session in the comfort of their own home or chosen private environment. This can help to take the stigma out of attending a therapy session and address social anxiety or anxiety in general around the “typical” across the couch approach to therapy.
As with most things, there are some limits to Telehealth therapy sessions. Telehealth is not appropriate for individuals who are:
frequently find themselves in crisis
experiencing severe mental illness such as severe depression, PTSD symptoms etc.
experiencing thoughts of suicide or harm to others
individuals who do not reside in an area in which the therapist is licensed. Jennifer Elkins, LCSW currently serves clients in the state of California and Utah.
Individual Therapy
I am a strong believer that everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy provides a safe space for individuals to express frustrations they are currently experiencing, explore areas in their life that are causing them to struggle and impacting their day to day functioning. I provide an empathetic space for clients to explore their current situation, build coping skills and address root causes leading to the difficulties they may be experiencing. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in addressing areas of concern.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy can be for those who are dating, in a relationship, married or contemplating divorce or separation. Couples come to therapy with a wide range of issues including need for reconnection, phase of life issues, infidelity, financial stress, codependency, parenting struggles, contemplating separation or divorce and coparenting. Often times, couples need a neutral space to express their concerns or frustrations. when they are stuck and find themselves growing further apart. As the therapist I assist them in strengthening their communication skills and understanding each others strengths as well as their needs to develop are strong base in their relationship despite their end goals.
*Please note: at this time I am not taking any additional clients for couples therapy.
Clinical Supervision
The path towards licensure is often an exciting and intimidating journey. I have been assisting associate social workers for almost 10 years in identifying their goals for supervision, working through ethical scenarios, transference and countertransference and career roles.
